Help With Plantar Fasciitis

If you have plantar fasciitis, then you are more than familiar with the enormous amount of heel pain it can bring you. Your feet can hurt in the arches and all the way down to the heels. Depending on how severe your symptoms are, the pain can even radiate to other areas of your feet. The best way to live with this condition is to make sure you do all you can to prevent the pain, and know exactly what to do to get relief when it shows up. Watch the shoes you wear

You want to make sure you only wear proper footwear that you know isn't going to cause a flair up. This means staying completely away from shoes that have high heels, or even lifted heels. Shoes where the heels are higher than the toes will put way too much pressure on the wrong areas of your feet and this can easily lead to plantar fasciitis flaring up on you. Go with shoes that fit you perfectly and that offer you great arch support.

Take a break when possible

Stay off of your feet as much as you can. While this may not be something you can always do, depending on the type of work you are in, you do want to do your best. Even taking a short break to sit once an hour is an improvement if this isn't something you normally do. Also, standing on soft ground is better than standing on hard ground, so try to stand on a mat instead of pavement. Shift from foot to foot while standing, so you continuously relieve some of that pressure and you don't put a constant amount of weight on the exact same parts of your feet.

Treat your feet well

Plantar fasciitis generally hurts the most in the morning, so wake up early enough to massage your feet before you try to put weight on them. It's also helpful to move them around and stretch them as much as possible. You should also rub your feet with lotion at the end of the day.

Keep a plastic water bottle, or two, in your freezer so you can use them when you need them. Take them out and put them right under the arches of your feet. Then, roll your feet slowly on them, so they massage your feet while treating them with an ice effect. This is a fantastic way to get pain relief.
